Ask how many colors the 2026 Mustang comes in, and you will get a different answer depending on who you ask. Some sources say ten. Others say eleven. Most still list Grabber Blue and Iconic Silver as current options.
They are all working from the launch information, and the launch information has changed.
Ford’s 2026 Mustang order guide, dated 03/27/26, documents a Job 2 revision that takes effect on every vehicle built on or after 04/13/2026. That revision adds one color and removes two more that had already survived the initial model year cut. If you are shopping a 2026 Mustang, ordering one, or matching paint on one, which side of Job 2 your car falls on changes what was available.
Here is the complete picture, pulled directly from the order guide along with the most accurate updates as of September 2026.
The complete 2026 Mustang color palette
The mainstream 2026 Mustang lineup offers ten exterior colors across the EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, and Dark Horse trims. Nine are available lineup-wide. The tenth, Blue Ember Metallic, cannot be ordered on its own at all, and requires a specific Dark Horse package. The Dark Horse SC and the GTD carry their own separate palettes, covered further down.

Pricing runs on three tiers. Three colors carry no charge: Shadow Black, Oxford White, and Carbonized Gray Metallic. Five sit at $495: Avalanche Gray, Race Red, Vapor Blue Metallic, Adriatic Blue Metallic and Blue Ember Metallic. The two multi-stage finishes, Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat and Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat, are $995.
Worth noting that Race Red, historically the default no-cost hero color on plenty of Mustangs, is a $495 option for 2026. Adriatic Blue Metallic sits in the same $495 tier despite being one of the two headline new colors, which makes it the cheapest way into the 2026 palette’s genuinely new material.
What is new for 2026
The order guide’s Major Product Changes section lists two new exterior colors at the start of the model year:
Adriatic Blue Metallic (B2). A deep metallic blue with a teal cast that reads very differently in direct sun than it does in shade. Ford pairs it most deliberately with the new FX Appearance Package, which is itself a Fox Body callback, and the two together are the clearest statement Ford has made about where the S650’s styling references are pointed. One ordering constraint to know: Adriatic Blue is not available with the Carmine Red interior.
Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat (NL). Orange returns to the Mustang order sheet as a three-stage tri-coat, which means real depth and a real repair bill if you ever need a panel resprayed. It is available across EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse, but it is specifically excluded from the FX Appearance Package and from the RTR Appearance Package.
Then, at Job 2, a third:
Avalanche Gray (DR). Added as available on all series effective 04/13/2026, at $495. This is the color responsible for most of the confusion in published 2026 color lists, because it does not appear in the model year’s original new-color announcement but does appear in the current Color and Trim availability tables. It also carries no extra-charge marker in the order guide’s color tables, yet Ford’s configurator prices it at $495, so treat any source calling it a no-cost color with caution.
What Ford removed, and when
This is the part almost nobody has right, because it happened in two stages.
Removed at the start of the 2026 model year:
- Wimbledon White (N4), which had returned with the 60th Anniversary Package. That package is also gone for 2026, and the color went with it.
- Intense Lime Yellow Metallic (B7).
Removed at Job 2, effective 04/13/2026:
- Iconic Silver Metallic (JS)
- Grabber Blue Metallic (AE)
That second pair matters. Grabber Blue is one of the most searched Mustang colors in the modern catalog, and it was orderable on early 2026 builds. As of Job 2, it is not. If you see a 2026 Mustang listed in Grabber Blue or Iconic Silver, it is a pre-Job 2 car, and that scarcity is real in a way most 2026 build variations are not.
Also gone for 2026 alongside these: the California Special Package, the 60th Anniversary Package, and the Wheel and Stripe Package (605).
2026 Mustang colors by trim
The palette is unusually consistent across trims this year. The differences are in the packages, not the base series.
EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium
Nine colors: Adriatic Blue Metallic, Avalanche Gray, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat, Oxford White, Race Red, Shadow Black, and Vapor Blue Metallic.
Interior pairings are Black Onyx and Space Gray across the range, with Emberglo available on the 200A Premium and Carmine Red on the 201A Premier Trim with Color Accent Group.
GT and GT Premium
The same nine colors as EcoBoost, with no exterior restrictions at the series level. Interior options expand to include Emberglo and Carmine Red on the Premium equipment groups, and Recaro leather-trimmed sport seats are available with the GT Performance Package.
Dark Horse
Nine colors in standard 600A and 700A configuration: Adriatic Blue Metallic, Avalanche Gray, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat, Oxford White, Race Red, Shadow Black and Vapor Blue Metallic.
Order the Dark Horse Appearance Package (54C) on the 700A and the list shortens sharply to five: Adriatic Blue Metallic, Avalanche Gray, Blue Ember Metallic, Shadow Black and Vapor Blue Metallic. Carbonized Gray, Molten Magenta, Orange Fury, Oxford White and Race Red all drop off.
The trim-exclusive colors
Two colors on the 2026 sheet cannot be ordered on a standard build.
Blue Ember Metallic (E1) requires the Dark Horse Appearance Package (54C) on the 700A Deluxe equipment group. It is the only 2026 exterior color gated behind a package rather than a series, and it is why color counts published elsewhere land on ten or eleven, depending on whether the writer counted it.
This one catches people out. Ford’s configurator shows Blue Ember at $495 in the same list as every other paint choice, but you cannot actually select it without adding the Appearance Package. If you want Blue Ember, budget for the package, not the paint price.
The Dark Horse Appearance Package also brings additional blue seat accents, a black painted roof, a unique hood graphic, and Notorious Blue painted brake calipers with a Grabber Blue logo. The black roof is included except when the car is ordered in Shadow Black, and it drops if you also order the custom painted hood and accent stripe.
Argon Blue Metallic is specific to the Dark Horse SC and does not appear in the standard 2026 order guide series tables. We cover the SC palette separately in our 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC exterior colors guide.
Beyond the mainstream lineup: Dark Horse SC and GTD
The ten colors above cover the Mustang lineup most buyers will actually configure. Two 2026 Mustangs sit outside that table entirely, and they are the reason published color counts never quite agree.
Both cars run their own paint programs rather than drawing from the standard order guide palette. That is why you will find color names attached to a 2026 Mustang that appear nowhere in the ten above.
Mustang Dark Horse SC
The supercharged Dark Horse SC gets a deliberately short list, and it is not a subset of the standard Dark Horse palette. Vapor Blue, Molten Magenta, and Orange Fury are all off the table. In its place is Argon Blue Metallic, exclusive to the SC and unavailable on any other 2026 Mustang at any trim or package level.
The short paint list is offset by unusually deep personalization elsewhere: a Carbon Exterior Package, three brake caliper colors, a Teal Accent Package for Track Pack cars, five seat belt colors, and factory-painted graphics.

Mustang GTD
The GTD does not use the Mustang color system. It carries six standard paints of its own, with names that appear nowhere else in the lineup, and then opens up entirely through Ford’s Extended Color Palette program.
The Extended Color Palette is the real story. GTD buyers work with a concierge team and can submit a photo, a swatch, or a reference car, and Ford will match it. That has produced 2026 GTDs in shades pulled entirely from other manufacturers’ catalogs. It is closer to Porsche’s Paint to Sample than to anything Ford has offered on a Mustang before.

The FX Package and its color rules
The Mustang FX Package (54B) is new for 2026 and optional on the GT Premium 400A and 401A. It is Ford’s Fox Body tribute and the most color-constrained option on the sheet.
The package brings 19-inch Oxford White painted cast aluminum wheels, a Pony badge painted Oxford White, 5.0 and GT badges outlined in Oxford White, black mirror caps, a high-gloss black grille with dark carbonized gray inserts, black-bezel headlamps, unique white taillamps, and a unique rear window graphic on Fastback cars.
Its color rules are strict:
- Eight exterior colors are available. Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat is excluded.
- Only the standard black seat belt is available. You can’t order any of the four optional seat belt colors with it.
- It cannot be combined with the Nite Pony Package, the Bronze Appearance Package, the Over-the-Top Racing Stripe, or Matte Clear Film.
- Interiors are limited to two exclusive trims: Leather-Trimmed Plaid Perforated seats in Black Onyx with Light Gray (7W), or Recaro Leather-Progressive Perforation seats in Black Onyx with Space Gray (FW).
The plaid seat trim is the detail that gives the package away as a period reference rather than a graphics exercise.
The RTR packages and their color exclusions
Job 2 also introduces a factory Mustang RTR Package (67U) and a Mustang RTR Appearance Package (60F), both Fastback-only and available on EcoBoost 101A and EcoBoost Premium 200A and 201A.
The RTR Package brings a Hyper Lime interior option with matching Hyper Lime seat belts, a drift brake, Tarnished Dark wheels, and a Tarnished Dark hood and accent stripe. Add the RTR Appearance Package and that stripe changes to Lime, with lime bodyside and hood accent stripes and Hyper Lime brake calipers.
The color rule to know: the RTR Appearance Package cannot be ordered with Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat or Race Red. Those same three colors are also unavailable on the base RTR Package when it is ordered with the Lime interior.
Interior colors and the new seat belt options
Interior trim for 2026 covers Black Onyx, Space Gray, Emberglo, and Carmine Red, plus Lime on RTR-equipped EcoBoost cars, two blue-accented Dark Horse trims, and the two FX Package exclusives noted above.
Ford put its personalization budget on seat belts this year. Three new colors join the existing Race Red option:
- Black with Red Stripe (59K)
- Prime Blue (59L)
- International Orange (59M)
These are seat belts, not paint, which is a distinction several published 2026 color guides have gotten wrong. Their availability depends on interior trim rather than exterior color. Prime Blue is not available with the Emberglo or Carmine Red interiors, and International Orange is not available with Carmine Red. The Deep Indigo seat belt previously offered on the Dark Horse is discontinued.
How to find your 2026 Mustang’s paint code
The exterior paint code is on the certification label in the driver-side door jamb, listed beside EXT PNT. On the S650, it is a two-character code, and it is the field you want before ordering touch-up paint or booking a panel respray.
Always match the code to the model year, not the color name. Names return across generations while formulas and finishes change, and a tri-coat like Orange Fury will not be matched correctly by anyone working from the name alone.
