Mystichrome is Back! Available through RTR’s New Paint-to-Sample Program
Exciting news for the Mustang community! RTR Vehicles has just announced two groundbreaking updates that are set to revolutionize automotive customization. The legendary Mystichrome paint, famous for its dazzling color-shifting properties, is making a comeback after 20 years. Additionally, RTR is launching a new RTR Extended Color Palette and Paint-to-Sample Program, allowing Mustang owners to create a truly bespoke vehicle by choosing from an extended palette of curated colors or submitting their unique paint codes. These innovations highlight RTR’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of personalization and providing Mustang enthusiasts with unparalleled options to make their cars one-of-a-kind.
Mystichrome Returns After 20 Years!
Remember that stunning color-shifting paint from the 2004 Cobra? Well, it’s back! Mystichrome is making a return thanks to RTR’s latest paint to sample program. This prismatic paint shifts between blue, green, gold, purple, and root beer, creating a visual experience like no other. Mystichrome first debuted on the 1996 Mustang Cobra as “Mystic” and was reformulated for the 2004 Cobra. Due to its limited production of around 1,000 vehicles and the high cost of materials, Mystichrome remained a rare and highly sought-after option.
It’s been 20 long years, but RTR is bringing this iconic finish back to let a new generation of Mustang lovers enjoy its beauty. Now, through the RTR Extended Color Palette, Mystichrome is available again, allowing Mustang enthusiasts to experience its dynamic range of hues and make their vehicles truly stand out.
RTR Extended Color Palette
RTR is all about pushing the boundaries of customization, and its new Paint-to-Sample Program is a game-changer. Here’s what you need to know:

Each color is handpicked to ensure your Mustang RTR stands out from the crowd.

Got a specific color in mind? Submit any paint code, and RTR will paint your Mustang in that exact shade. Whether it’s a classic color, a modern hue, or something completely unique, RTR’s Paint-to-Sample option lets you bring your vision to life. This isn’t just a paint job—it’s about expressing your individuality and passion in a way that’s never been possible before on a Mustang. It does come with an additional cost of $5,000 on top of whatever pricing tier it falls under. If it falls under the premium pricing tier, you could be looking at an additional $20,995 just for paint!
“We are so pumped to introduce the RTR Extended Color Palette and Paint-to-Sample Program! This is more than just a paint job—it’s about giving RTR owners a chance to express their individuality and passion in a way that’s never been possible before on a Mustang,” said Vaughn Gittin Jr. “Our team has worked very hard to offer some unique colorways to choose from, and I love all the colors we’ve curated and made available. Bringing back the legendary Mystichrome paint, last seen on the 2004 SVT Cobra, is my absolute favorite offering. It’s been too long, and someone had to do it!”
