The Ford Mustang finally has a place to call home
After 55 years, the Ford Mustang finally has a place to call home. The Mustang Owner’s Museum is located in Concord, NC. It is just a short drive (less than a mile) away from Charlotte Motor Speedway. At the time of this article being written, the Museum is still under construction and is planning its Grand Opening on April 17th, 2019. Continue reading below to get more information about the Grand Opening and 55 Years of Mustang Event.
Mustang Owner’s Museum Construction
The Museum building is roughly 35,000 sq. ft. That’s a whole lot of room for Mustangs and Mustang related memorabilia! I had the opportunity to attend National Mustang Day back in 2017 and view the grounds before construction began. Below you can see progression images that the Museum has gone through since late 2017.
The Preview Museum
While the Museum is under construction, a Preview Museum opened to give Mustang enthusiasts a “preview” of what you could expect to see when the Museum opens on April 17th, 2019. Over the 10 month span of being open, the Preview Museum had attracted several hundred guests on a local, national and international scale.
The Preview Museum opened in March of 2018. There were several Mustangs that were on display and a lot of unique Mustang memorabilia. Some of the vehicles included new ROUSH Mustangs from Tindol ROUSH Performance, a restored ’75 Mustang II, 2014 Shelby GT500 SuperSnake Widebody and a Playboy Pink ’67 Mustang.
The Preview Museum closed down in December of 2018. It is now being used as a workshop to organize memorabilia and put together displays that are going into the Mustang Owner’s Museum permanent location.
55 Years of Mustang Event
The Ford Mustang turns 55 this year. The Mustang Owner’s Museum is hosting an event called the 55 Years of Mustang. The event is being put together to celebrate the Ford Mustang’s 55th birthday on April 17th, 2019. I’m sure you’re wondering where this event is going to take place aren’t you?
They will be taking over Charlotte Motor Speedway on April 17th – 20th with daily activities that any Mustang enthusiast would enjoy. There will be Open Track Sessions on the new Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL, a Guinness World Record Attempt for the largest Mustang parade and seminars from notable figures within the Mustang community. Some of the guest speakers include Gale Halderman, Art Hyde, Bud Magaldi and John Clor. For more information regarding event details and registration, please visit this link.
